You Choose

There are many options to climb to the top of our highest mountain. If you hire a guide privately you get to choose which option we will take.

  • The easiest way ascents Triglav from Krma valley. There is still almost 2000 meters of height difference, but only 400 meters of via ferata in this option.
  • The hardest one goes on one of the via feratas from Vratavalley. Again there is almost 2000 meters of height difference and there can be around 1500 on via ferata.
  • The third option is over the seven lakes, it can also be called the way with the best sights. That is the longest one of the three, but the landscape is the most diverse.

Itinerary

Krm ValleyThe easiest way
  • There are three Alpine valleys that are going bellow Triglav from Mojstrana. Krma is the southeast of them and for most of people, that climb Triglav regularly that is the easiest ascent. We are ascending that route on all our group and winter ascents of the mountain.
  • The route to Triglavski dom is 7,3 kilometres long and it gradually ascends 1550 height meters. Usually it takes us around 5 hours to reach the hut. There is water spring half way up the mountain, so you can start the hike with 1 or 1,5 litre of water and some snacks for the way.
  • From Triglavski dom to the top of Triglav we need to ascend another 400 height meters, but because of exposed terrain(via ferata) ascend and descend together usually takes between 3-4 hours.
  • Descend back down from the hut to the valley takes around 4 hours.
  • If the weather allows us we climb to the top of Triglav on the first day, as that way is easier for most of the guests. That means that you will start the climb around 8 am and you will be down in the valley around 1 pm on the second day.
  • If there are possible thunderstorms in the afternoon, we will start the hike around noon on day 1 and ascend the top of Triglav on the second day. That means you will be down in the valley around 5pm on the second day.
  • As we can’t predict the weather too far in advance you will get the time of departure on your email a day or two before the climb.
Vrata Valley
  • There are three Alpine valleys that are going bellow Triglav from Mojstrana. Vrata are the valley on the North side of the mountain.
  • Triglav looks the most impressive from here, as from Aljazev dom you see the whole North face and the summit almost 2000 meters above you.
  • There are three via ferratas leading towards Triglav from Vrata valley.
  • The easiest one and the most commonly climbed is Prag route. It has three steeper sections with some easy ground in between.
  • The second one is Tominsek route. It starts on a normal, but steep trail through the woods, but as we build up the height also the views open and we reach the cables quite soon.
  • Once on the cables we are climbing an exposed, but well protected via ferrata till we join with Prag route an hour bellow Triglavski dom.
  • Usually it takes us around 5 hours to reach the hut on both options.
  • There is no water on the mountain, so make sure you have enough of water and snacks for five hours long adventure. The third option is Plemenice(Bamberg) route.
  • That is the hardest route to Triglav, as it is on exposed ground all the time, but there are really limited cables to make your way easier.
  • Another thing that makes this route the hardest is, that there are no huts on the way, that means that we need around 6 hours to the top of Triglav and another hour and a half till Triglavski dom.
  • For Prag and Tominsek route we have another 400 height meters to ascend from Triglavski dom to the top of Triglav, but because of exposed terrain(via ferrata) ascend and descend together usually takes between 3-4 hours.
  • Descend back down from the hut to Krma valley takes around 4 hours.
  • If the weather allows us we climb to the top of Triglav on the first day, as that way is easier for most of the guests.
  • That means that you will start the climb around 8 am and you will be down in the valley around 1 pm on the second day.
  • If there are possible thunderstorms in the afternoon, we will start the hike around noon on day 1 and ascend the top of Triglav on the second day.
  • That means you will be down in the valley around 5pm on the second day.
  • As we can’t predict the weather too far in advance you will get the time of departure on your email a day or two before the climb.
Seven Lakes
  • Triglav climb over the valley of the seven lakes is the most diverse one, but also the longest.
  • The start of the trail is high above Bohinj lake on Blato meadow.
  • There are some options of start points lower in the valley, but driving up gives us much better scenery and covering some of the height difference with car will be helpful on this long trek.
  • On the first day we approach the hut by the seven lakes over alpine meadows.
  • After lunch on the hut(tap water) we continue up the valley to Dolic hut, where we will stay overnight.
  • We cover almost 20 kilometers distance on that day and deal with 1500 height meters. It will take us between 7-9 hours to reach Dolic hut from Blato meadow.
  • On the second day it starts easy on an old military trail for an hour. Than the via ferrata is waiting for us.
  • To ascend Triglav it takes around 3 hours from Dolic hut.
  • Descent goes to Planika hut, Vodnikov dom(tap water) and across alpine meadows back to our car.
  • As there are some longer ascents also on the way down it takes around 7 hours to reach our car from the top of the mountain.
  • That means that the day is around 10 hours long.
  • We will start the climb around 8 am and you will be down in the valley around 6 pm on the second day.
