Overview

Wildlife, wilderness, and wow-worthy campouts makeup this 15-day exploration of South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. Hop aboard one of our overland adventure vehicles (OAV) while searching for the Big Five in Kruger National Park, check out Victoria Falls, and look for rhinos on-foot in Matobo National Park. Don’t let anything extra get between you and the expansive scenery – camp out, sing songs around the fire with locals, and travel by mokoro. With views this impressive the more time spent outside, the better.

Itinerary

Day 1Victoria Falls
Arrive at any time. Victoria Falls is great base to kick-off a southern African adventure to see some natural wonders and take part in some exciting activities. Arrive before your tour starts and opt to get up close (and wet from the spray) while awing at the immense Victoria Falls, raft the whitewater of the mighty Zambezi, or for the more adventurous, bungee jump with Victoria Falls in view.
Day 2Victoria Falls/Matobo National Park
Rise early to start the long but scenic drive to Matobo National Park.
Day 3Matobo National Park
Walk with rhinos and enjoy an open vehicle wildlife safari drive in Matobo National Park.
Day 4Matobo National Park/Tshipise
Cross the border into South Africa, and relax in the warm water mineral pool at our campsite.
Day 5Tshipise/Kruger National Park
Enjoy a full-day wildlife safari drive in the Lando in the Kruger National Park. Welcome to wildlife country! The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Search for lions, elephants, rhinos, and many other animals in one of Africa’s greatest wildlife areas on a full-day wildlife safari drive.
Day 6Kruger National Park/Greater Kruger Area
Witness spectacular wildlife on a wildlife safari drive in the Lando, or opt to upgrade to a 4x4 safari vehicle. Enjoy a traditional dinner and local dancing in the evening.
Day 7Greater Kruger Area/Johannesburg
Drive back to South Africa's largest city. Continue to Johannesburg, the economic heart of South Africa and the largest city in the country.
Day 8Johannesburg
Spend a full day exploring Johannesburg. Opt to visit the Apartheid Museum, or take a bike tour around Soweto.
Day 9Johannesburg/Serowe
Cross the border into Botswana and travel to the campsite at Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Today's travel takes us through a very desolate part of central-eastern Botswana. We cross into Botswana and finish the day at a campsite within the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, a unique community-based initiative in wildlife conservation.
Day 10Serowe/Maun
Enjoy a drive in Khama Rhino Sanctuary before heading to Maun. Opt to take a scenic flight over the delta.
Day 11Maun/Okavango Delta
Enjoy a wildlife walk, traditional mokoro (dugout canoe) excursion, and birding. View wildlife up close. Sing and dance around the campfire with the locals. Begin an exciting 2-day/1-night excursion into the delta on a safari vehicle to the "dock" where we hop into a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, that will take us deep into the delta. After a couple of hours in a mokoro, we arrive at our basic bush camp.
Day 12Okavango Delta/Gweta
Relax on a mokoro ride out of the delta, then camp under under massive baobab trees for the night. Enjoy sunrise over the delta, then get up early to cruise back down the crystal clear channels of the Okavango Delta. We return to Maun with some time to freshen up before we continue our journey to Gweta.
Day 13Gweta/Kasane
Hop on an optional wildlife viewing boat cruise on the Chobe River in Chobe National Park. Today we journey to Chobe National Park, home to the largest elephant population in southern Africa. The best way to appreciate one of Botswana's national parks and its thousands of resident elephants, crocodiles, and hippos is on an optional sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River. You can pre-book this on the checkout page, or through your Global Connection Officer or travel agent. You may also choose to embark on a open vehicle safari drive in search of lions, antelope, and, of course, elephants.
Day 14Kasane/Victoria Falls
Start your visit to Zimbabwe with traditional lunch prepared by the G Adventures supported Lusumpuko Women's Club. Cross the border into Zimbabwe, then continue on to the town of Victoria Falls. Opt to get up close (and wet from the spray) to the awesome Victoria Falls, or bungee jump (with Victoria Falls in sight).
